An open weave across the top lets air move through, so paws stay cooler on warm ground.
The upper is a ventilated mesh rather than a closed shell. Air moves through the weave as your dog walks, so heat does not build up inside the boot on a warm day.
The sole seals out water, so puddles and wet grass stay on the outside.
The sole is waterproof, so wet pavement, puddles and damp grass stay where they belong. Pair it with the breathable upper and the boot handles a wet morning without turning into a sealed bag.
A shorter shaft for low-ankle breeds, so the top never digs in.
Corgis and dachshunds sit low to the ground and have far less ankle than a Labrador. Their sets are cut with a shorter shaft, so the opening clears the joint instead of pressing on it.

How the fit is made
Every set is cut to measurements taken from your dog's own paws — length, width and height — so the shell follows the paw instead of approximating it.
Length
Heel to longest toe. Sets where the boot bends, so the flex point meets the paw's own.
Width
Across the widest part of the pad. Front paws run broader than back ones, so the two pairs are cut differently.
Height
Up through the ankle. Decides how high the shell sits and where the strap closes.
Front and back paws are measured separately, so one dog gets two shapes across four boots.
