Our Story

Canela Pawwear started with a frustration every dog owner knows: most dog shoes don't fit. They slip off mid-walk, bunch up around the ankle, or rub in all the wrong places — because no two paws are the same, and generic small/medium/large sizing was never going to solve that.

Canela Pawwear was built to fix the problem at its root. Instead of guessing at a size, we scan the paw. Instead of one-size-fits-most, we fit every dog individually. The result is a shoe designed the way your dog is designed — precisely, and for them.

From Idea to Kickstarter

The idea began as a side project inside Canela Labs, our parent company. Canela Labs is building a bigger vision: a standardized pet sizing platform powered by AI, starting with paws and expanding from there. Dog shoes were the first real-world test — the category where bad fit is most obvious, and where a better system would matter most to pet owners.

In early 2026, we took that bet to the public. Our Kickstarter campaign for the world's first scan-to-fit dog shoes launched in February and closed a month later with around 200 backers and nearly 500% of the funding goal raised. It told us what we hoped to hear: owners have been waiting for this, and they're ready for a shoe that fits properly the first time.

Today, Canela Pawwear ships to backers and new customers alike — with the same scan-to-fit promise behind every pair.
